Hey folks! it's been a while.. As you can see, my knees went through some "issues" in the past couple of weeks--I managed to hyperextend both of them. Walking on them was horrible for a while. ESPECIALLY the stairs. My goodness gracious. I finally took a break this whole week and now it feels 1000x better. Yay! You're probably wondering, "Carolyn, why didn't you take a break when the pain started? Well, you see, I wish I did. |
^ See that? Those are my fellow performers that I got to work with for Seoul Sho' (Kudos to anyone who can spot me). Seoul Sho' is basically a presentation of cultural dances, performances, and more. For this semester, I decided to dance and sing. So for an entire week, I was doing a dance piece for hours on end. At one point, my knee popped out (happened before) and I just placed on a brace and kept going. Bad, bad idea. I was so stressed and tired that week--you don't even know! The show was pretty successful, since I didn't trip and fall or anything lol.
Thought I was going to rest after that? LOL I should have, but didn't. I was so afraid that if I wasn't active due to my injured knees, I would start gaining weight. I know I know, what a ridiculous mindset. So I kept pushing myself to do more.
College is a wonderful place--you get the opportunity to do things you've never done before and you learn so much from the experiences. Never be afraid to explore!
So yeah, because of all the overexertion I did, my knees had to be iced for a while. However, they feel so much better now because I rested. I realized that even though it's important to be active, always make sure you're getting enough rest. Your body will thank you. Stay healthy everyone! <3
