Just kidding. I suck at it. LOL. As you can see in the bottom left of the picture, I am holding on to the rocks for dear life. Today was my first time ever rock climbing, which meant I had to do that whole tour thing and learn all the different knots and stuff. It was super cool! Other than being dropped too fast by my roommate and almost dying, my first climb was quite successful! Since I'm literally almost 300 pounds, I didn't even think that I would be able to even adhere myself to the wall. When I actually tried it, it wasn't that bad! It's a lot of leg strength, which I had a lot of since I am carrying a hefty load of myself everywhere I go. Before I knew it, I was at the very top! IT WAS INSANE. Did I feel like Spiderman? A little bit. Except.. less fit. |
Now the real problem occurred when I tried the other walls that were more difficult. When I was about to climb, I looked at the bottom rocks to see where I should begin. Thing is, they were small. Like.. really small. Now tell me how am I supposed to carry myself on a rock that is like, 1/15th of my shoe (I'm a size 11/12 btw). So of course, I kept falling--nearly getting a heart attack each time. No matter how hard I gripped or balanced myself, it was never enough. I NEED MORE PRACTICE. Or bigger rock. Either one is fine.
EDIT: 06/11/14
Today, I woke up thinking I believe my arms are broken. I didn't feel it yesterday, but all that rock climbing tore my forearms LIKE NO OTHER. Every single thing I did with my fingers and hands immediately hurt. I didn't know what to do. It wasn't bad until I was opening my car door. When I did, I just lost it. Millions of cramps went up my forearm and I was just sitting in the drivers seat looking like I just got shot. Pathetic I know. Well at least I'm building muscle! It's going to take a loootttt of stretching to get these bad boys to go away.
